The Bartram Trail High School Athletic Department implemented a “pay to participate” fee during the 2003-04 school year to help combat the rising costs of running a high school athletic department. Currently the St. Johns County School Board pays each coach’s coaching supplement. All remaining costs are the responsibility of the athletic department.
The Bartram Trail Athletic Department is responsible for covering the following:
- Transportation (including school buses, charters, and rental vans)
- Uniforms
- Equipment (including helmets, pads, goals, nets, bases, and game balls)
- Officials
- Security
- Ambulances
- Field maintenance
- First aid/training supplies
While this list is not exhaustive, it highlights the major year-round, upfront costs of running our athletic program.
Each athlete who plays a sport will be charged a $150 fee for each sport that he/she participates in. The fee will be due when the athlete makes the team. *This fee must be paid prior to the student athlete participating in his/her first interscholastic contest and covers expenses already incurred by the athletic department.
Your understanding and support with this participation fee is greatly appreciated. While other programs around the area/country are struggling to keep sports in their schools, your financial commitment of this participation fee will play a tremendous role in keeping the athletic program at Bartram Trail one of the finest in the North Florida area.
